Go drown some worms !! There
is some really good fishing in the
Smokies. There
are nearly 500 miles of fishable
streams in the Smokies. Brook trout
are the only native trout, but after
the logging days of the late 19th and
early 20th century, both brook and
brown trout were stocked. Now, these
three species, along with smallmouth
bass in the lowest streams, thrive
here. |
| 3)
Take a Hike !! There are many

The park has specific sites set aside
for picnicking. Some, including Chimneys,
Deep Creek, Cades Cove, and Cosby, remain
open year-round. Other sites include: Greenbrier,
Big Creek, and Collins Creek. Some
park picnic areas may be closed for
renovations. |
| 5)
Road biking is popular in particular
sections of the park, namely Cades
Cove Loop Road. The Cades Cove
Loop Road extends for 11 miles around
the cove and offers great views. It is
closed to auto traffic on Wednesday
and Saturday mornings in summer,
otherwise it can get very crowded. A
special time to pedal the cove is at
night on a full moon. |
