1)  Have a picnic at the Parkside Resort Picnic Pavilion.  Use of the Pavilion is free to all Guests of Parkside Resort and Accommodations by Parkside, so call the Office and make sure it's available - and come on over !!
2)  Go drown some worms !!  There is some really good fishing in the Smokies.  There are nearly 500 miles of fishable streams in the Smokies. Brook trout are the only native trout, but after the logging days of the late 19th and early 20th century, both brook and brown trout were stocked. Now, these three species, along with smallmouth bass in the lowest streams, thrive here.
3)  Take a Hike !!  There are many wonderful hiking trails available for you in the Smoky Mountain National Park.  Best part of it is, there all free to use !!
4)  The park has specific sites set aside for picnicking. Some, including Chimneys, Deep Creek, Cades Cove, and Cosby, remain open year-round. Other sites include: Greenbrier, Big Creek, and Collins Creek. Some park picnic areas may be closed for renovations.
5)  Road biking is popular in particular sections of the park, namely Cades Cove Loop Road.  The Cades Cove Loop Road extends for 11 miles around the cove and offers great views. It is closed to auto traffic on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in summer, otherwise it can get very crowded. A special time to pedal the cove is at night on a full moon.
6)  Stroll through the Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts Community in the Glades, out Hwy 321 at Light #3 in Gatlinburg.  See local artisans and craftspeople in action creating traditional mountain crafts.
7)  TAIL OF THE DRAGON AT DEALS GAP, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America's number one motorcycle and sports car road. The nearby CHEROHALA SKYWAY is quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles of scenic mountain highway.
8)  GET HITCHED !!!  Yes, Gatlinburg is the Las Vegas of the East and, for as little as $99, you and your sweetie can tie the knot in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.  Ask your Guest Services Rep about this service if you need it.  We have a preacher on-call and some lovely cabins for your honeymoom......
9)  See a festival or fair while you're here.  There are many special events in the Smokies, like the Bloomin' Bluegrass and Barbecue in Sevierville, or the Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival.  Usually only a small entrance fee and, sometimes, they're FREE !!
10)  Take me out to the Ball Game !!  See the Smokies - our minor league baseball team in action at Smokies' Stadium, at Exit 407 on I-40.  Tickets run $6 - $9 per person, with occasional specials for special events.
